Republic Day Celebrations in 2018

In keeping with our traditions, Republic Day 2018 was celebrated with full gusto and vigour. The day started with ExMA joining in the Flag Hoisting ceremony, followed by our tradition of flying kites with Marians.

The Annual Cricket Match between Ex-Marians and Marians was extremely competitive. Ex-Marians won the match by 8 wickets.
Best Bowler Award went to Sarvam Agarwal. Best Batsman award was given to Aditya Maheshwari. Man of the match went to Ayush Bhardwaj was his unbeaten score of 102 and his match winning inning.

ExMa won the running trophy after many years. Ex-Ma team and all the ExMarians were ecstatic after the win.

Special thanks goes to the current Silver Jubilee batch of 1993 who helped organize the event along with ExMA. Members of the Golden Jubilee batch of 1968 were also present.

Yaadein ’67 ’92

This year, Yaadein was organized in association with the Silver Jubilee Batch of 1992 and the Golden Jubilee batch of 1967.This year, Yaadein was special. A rock concert was organized in the school grounds and it was legendary.

Independence day Football Match 2017

Keeping in our tradition, Independence day was celebrated with a friendly match between Marians and Ex-Marians. This year, ExMA kept the memories of Mr. N.S. Yadav alive, in association with the Silver Jubilee Batch of ’92. Here are some pictures of the event.

 

 

Welcome Rev. Bro. Dennis Joseph

We are excited to welcome our new Principal of St. Mary’s Academy, Rev. Bro. Dennis Joseph.

Bro. Dennis has taken charge from Rev. Bro. Babu Varghese. We wish Bro. Babu Varghese the best for all his future endevours. Simultaneously, we welcome Rev. Bro. Dennis Joseph to Meerut and, together, we hope to take St. Mary’s Academy to new heights of excellence.

Farewell of Rev. Bro. Babu Varghese

After a memorable inning as the Principal of St. Mary’s Academy, our Patron, Rev. Bro. Babu Varghese has been transferred to St. Joseph’s, Dehradun.

A small farewell was organized at the school to bid farewell to Rev. Bro. Babu Varghese. Bro. Varghese was very kind and presented all the executives of Team ExMA with the colors of St. Patrick.

We, wish him all the best for all his future endevours.

2017 Kalaripayattu by Spic Macay

Under the umbrella of Spic Macay, a team from Kerela introduced our students to the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu. A rigorous physical discipline, that requires years of hard work and countless hours of practice is still alive in parts of India.

The students witnessed a nail biting performance of hand to hand, sword, knives, flexible swords and other combat techniques. The performers demonstrated their peak physical and mental condition and showcased their agility and flexibility. The audience was mesmerized by this show of precision combat where the hands and feet moved faster than what the eyes could see.

32nd Rev. Bro. C.J.Bergin Memorial Cricket Tournament

32nd Rev. Bro. C.J. Bergin Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament was organized on 25th April – 2nd May 2017.

The Rev. Bro. C.J. Bergin Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament was started in 1984 by Rev. Bro. P. Muldowny and Mr. N.S. Yadav. Due to the untiring efforts of Mr. Yadav, this tournament has been continuing for more than the last 30 years and has become the premier inter-school cricket tournament in North India. Some of the players from this tournament have gone on to represent Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Indian at national and international levels.

This year, 16 teams had participated in the tournament. Army Public School were the winners with St. Mary’s Academy coming as runners up. Sagar Lohan was adjudged as the best batsmen in the tournament.

This year, it was the first time this tournament was held after the death of Mr. N.S. Yadav. His presence and passion was sorely missed.

4th Rev. Bro. A.J. Aloysius Memorial Skating Competition

The wheels rolled, muscles strained, helmets and elbow guards were put on as participants from 16 schools from all across the town, geared up for the 4th Rev. Bro. A.J. Aloysius Memorial Skating Competition, here at St. Mary’s.

The competition took place on the 12th and 13th of February. Chief guest for the day was Mr. Neeraj Narang, President of ExMA. The battle of skates took place on the Skating Ring that has been presented to the school as “Gurudakshina” by the Batch of 1988. Throughout the 2 days, the competition was intense.

The close competition came to an end with St. Marys Academy as the winner in Boy’s category and Sophia Girls School as the winners in Girls category. The prize distribution was graced by Major Nath. The winners were awarded for their sheer hard work and dedication.
